New Featured Artwork:
Disco Balls - This art piece was inspired by contemporary artist Sari Shryack. She is an artist that grew up in poverty and depicts her enriching and colorful childhood using bright colors and glitter. She is well known for painting disco balls!
Fiber Art Flags - This art piece was inspired by Consuelo Jimenez Underwood. She is an artist who depicts immigration issues and unifies her American roots with her Mexican Indigenous ones through her art using fabric and thread.
Our Raven Art Club artists’ fiber art flags will be featured at POST Houston’s exhibition “State of Disruption” from May 10-May 26! Please drop by and support our Poe Raven Art Club Artists!
May 6-10, 2024 is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week at Poe Elementary. This year we're honoring our Poe teachers and staff with "Teachella," a festival-inspired week of gratitude, fun, and creativity. Students and families can take part in daily teacher appreciation activities:
Monday Notes of Gratitude (Write a poem or note of gratitude to your teacher.)
Tuesday High Fives (Give every teacher a high five, peace sign, or hand heart.)
Wednesday Flower Power (Draw, craft, or bring a flower or plant for your teacher.)
Thursday Something Sweet (Bring your teacher something sweet.)
Friday Color Pop (Wear your teacher's favorite color.)
We're also in need of adult volunteers throughout the week; sign up via our
SignUp Genius: tinyurl.com/poeravens2024
Our "Teachella" Appreciation Festival will culminate with live music at school pickup on Friday, May 10 from 3:00-4:00pm. Bring your picnic blankets to the Poe front lawn and enjoy the music (provided by Poe parents!) along with bubbles, beach balls, and good vibes. Cold treats will be available for purchase from Kona Ice.
Help us celebrate our amazing Poe teachers and staff! If you'd like to help in other ways, please email Shannon Moriarty at sm220@rice.edu.

Learn more about the Poe PTO
All PTO events that happen each year at Poe are 100% volunteer led. If you're interested in chairing or being a part of a committee, email president@poepto.org for more information!
The Poe Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) helps support our school through volunteering and also helps provide additional funds to continue programs, sponsor events, and purchase items by supplementing the funding from TEA and HISD. As part of the Poe community, EVERYONE - including parents, teachers and administrators - is automatically a member of the Poe PTO, and we welcome you to be part of the effort to provide Poe students with a strong foundation for learning and success.
