GET READY FOR our

2023 annual Auction on

Saturday APRIL 29 @ The Podium

6 pm - 10 pm

ABOUT THE AUCTION

Our auction is a wonderful chance for all of the current Poe parents, alumni, and community members to contribute to one of the largest PTO fundraisers of the year.  Proceeds raised through the annual auction help our budget tremendously and ensure that we can continue to support important initiatives at our school. Approaching the end of a challenging year and in light of Houston Independent School District budget cuts, this year's auction is especially important. Your support will enable us to continue to fund programs that complement and promote our children's educational experiences at Poe Elementary School.

Is This Your First Poe Auction? Need More Details?

I will never forget when I attended my first Poe Auction Event as new parent! Music, food, drinks, tables set up with great items to bid on, not to mention it was my first time seeing a Live Auctioneer in action! I was truly inspired by the roaring support from the parents and community. I also remember being totally confused by the flood of information in the weeks leading up to the event :) In an effort to save you from some of that stress and to help you understand just how important your support really is, we have covered some common questions below.

What We Do

Auction is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. The PTO Auction Committee plans a Themed party, books a venue, hires music, food, auctioneer, etc. We also hit the pavement at businesses all over town gathering donations for items and services such as kids camps and classes, popular restaurant gift cards, sports memorabilia, spa treatments, home decor and services, makeup and beauty, jewelry, vacation packages and experiences, museum memberships and many more. This event takes a few months to plan! Every dollar raised goes directly to student and teacher support. Given the current challenging education climate, as well as recent budget cuts, support from our community is more important than ever. Your Poe PTO cares deeply about providing our students and teachers with the tools necessary for success.

Event Details, What Do I Do Exactly?!

  1. Buy a ticket
  2. Register on the bidding site
  3. Attend the event
  4. Bid on items
  5. Dress up and Have Fun - It's a Night Out with Poe!

If you are unable to attend the event on April 29th we encourage you to still register on the bid site. Registration on the bidding site is free, you do not need to purchase a ticket (unless you are attending the party). The bidding site will have pictures of all of our silent auction items and it is super fun to scroll and look through everything. There will be a countdown clock and silent bidding will end at 10 pm sharp on April 29th. If you are the winning bidder on any items the Auction Committee will reach out to you for collection. Even if you are not at the actual party you are still bidding in real time with both remote bidders and those attending the event so keep an eye on the items you are bidding on!

Doors open at 6 pm at the fantastic new event space in the neighborhood, The Podium, located at 4007B Greenbriar on Saturday, April 29th. Upon arrival you will check in at the registration table, receive your food and drink tickets as well as your paddle with your bid number for the Live Auction. Tables will be set up with all of our silent auction items on display so after you register, have a bite, grab a drink and take a walk through that area. You will bid on those silent auction items from your phone or device at the event so make sure you register prior to the party.

The Live Auctioneer will begin at 8:15 (approx). He will feature items you can only purchase if you attend the event with all different price ranges (not just the expensive stuff). Actual bidding in the live auction at the event is not required (but have that paddle ready just in case!) and let me tell you it is super fun to watch!

What are Grade Level Baskets Anyway?!

Grade Level Baskets are items offered for parents to bid on during the Silent Auction portion of the event. We collect donations from parents then use those funds to create amazing Themed baskets for each grade level, Pre-K/Kinder - 5th (so 6 baskets total). The baskets are filled with all kinds of great items and each will have its own "theme". It's not uncommon for parents to bid on grade level baskets other than the grade of their student! It just depends on which one you like best! Be sure to register on the bid site via the link on our auction page. You will be able to scroll through pictures of the baskets as well as all the other items offered in silent auction.

Keep An Eye Out For Our Student's Class Art!

All students have participated in group art projects that will be available for sale on the silent auction bidding site.

I Love Those Metal Cut-Outs on The Back Fence At Poe!

These will be available on the bidding site as a "Buy Now" item. There is a limited quantity of these as we are running out of fence space!

Parking At The Event

We encourage using the taxi company of your choice or a rideshare. If you plan to drive to the event we will have valet parking.
