END OF DAY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
School dismisses at 3:00 pm.
There are a couple of ways you may choose to pick up your child:
- Walk-Up
- Car Line
- Independent Walker
- Bus
- After School Program - Little Heroes (after school hours)
- After School Program - Poe Activities (after school hours)
Safely Dismissing Students...Get the App!
PikMyKid allows our students to be safely dismissed from within the building. You will use the app to change your child's pick up mode for the day or to delegate someone else to pick up your child. Your child must first be in the PikMyKid system with your mobile phone number. You must also create an account using the PikMyKid app in order to make changes for your child.
Getting Set Up
You may go ahead and download the PikMyKid app to your phone, but please be advised that your child's enrollment information (including primary and/or secondary contact name and mobile phone number) must be in the PikMyKid system before the app will work on your phone.

Helpful Hints:
- The location settings on your mobile device must be turned ON.
- Make sure your child's primary or default pick up mode is correct in the system.
- The cut-off for making delegation or pick up mode changes within the system is 2:15 pm.
- Use the app to make day to day changes to your child's pick up mode by 2:15 pm.
- Specify recurring pick up changes in the app so you don't need to change it more than once.
Important!
Please note #1: The primary or default pick up mode can only be set by an administrator. If your child's primary pick up mode has changed, please contact your child's teacher. If you would like to make temporary changes to your child's pick up mode, you may do so within the app.
Please note #2: If your mobile number changes, you must contact the school with your new mobile number (mention you need this number changed in PikMyKid) and you must also contact PikMyKid support so that they can change the number within your account.
PARENT WALK-UP
Students are dismissed to parents at two Walk-Up dismissal areas: Parent Walk-Up South & Parent Walk-Up North
Parent Walk-Up South
(facing South Blvd, near the Art Cow)
Students in grades 1st & 3rd are assigned to Parent Walk Up South as these classrooms are closest to the South door. (Older siblings will all meet their youngest sibling at their exit door.)
Parent Walk-Up North
(facing North Blvd, by Preschool)
Students in grades Pre-K, K, 2nd, 4th, & 5th should be assigned to Parent Walk Up North as these classrooms are closest to the North door. (Older siblings will all meet their youngest sibling at their exit door. )
Check-In Dispatcher
Give the check in dispatcher your child's name or PikMyKid id.
Dismiss Dispatcher
Watch for your child to be dismissed by the dismiss dispatcher.
Keep the sidewalks clear. Stand on the deck or under the trees off the sidewalk. Be on the lookout for your child.
PLEASE NOTE:
Do not park in the NO PARKING AREAS located along North Blvd as this greatly affects the car line as it starts moving and blocks traffic from getting through.
Be courteous towards our neighbors. Keep driveways, alleys, and streets clear.
WHERE IS THE CAR LINE?
Two Lines:
HAZARD & SOUTH BLVD
The HAZARD line should start at Hazard & South Blvd (facing Bissonnet) and go back as far as needed, being mindful to not block driveways, alleys, or streets.
NORTH BLVD & HAZARD
The NORTH BLVD line should start at North & Hazard (facing east or away from the school) and go back as far as needed.
The line on HAZARD will back up past NORTH BLVD prior to dismissal. Please do not block streets, driveways, or alleyways with your car. Leave space for cars to turn onto streets. You will treat the stop sign as you would any stop sign when the line begins to move. Our crossing guards and police officers work hard to keep us safe and to also help make sure the roads are as clear as possible. Sometimes this means a car may be directed to go ahead of you in the car line. Please respect our safety personnel and know that everyone’s best interest is taken into account and the more you cooperate, the more efficient our car line runs.
PikMyKid Car Tag
Each student will be given a PikMyKid ID car tag that should be placed on the dash of your car. Our announce dispatcher will use these car tags to place your car in order in our dismissal system, so please make sure the car tag(s) are on the dash of the car as this will improve the wait time in the car line.
**Car tags will be sent home on Monday. If you have your child’s PikMyKid ID, please write this number on a piece of paper and place on your dash to assist us. You can find the ID in the PikMyKid app.
Announce
Announce your student using the PikMyKid app upon arriving at school. The earliest you can announce using the PikMyKid app is 2:30 pm. The announce button will turn green.
The Announce Dispatcher will place your car in order according to where it is in the line.The Loading Zone: The Dismiss Dispatchers will use the car tags to send students to the correct car.
Please Note:
Be courteous towards our neighbors. Do not block driveways, alleys, or streets.
MORNING DROP OFF
PROCEDURES
Car Line
You may drop off your children using the car line on Hazard (directly in front of the school) or North Blvd, between Wilton and Hazard. Both locations are staffed with our Poe Parent Patrol volunteers who will assist your child in getting out of the car.
We ask that you wait patiently in the car line until you are directed to go forward. Please do not get out of the line to go around the car(s) in front of you.
Please, no dropping off in the teacher parking lots.
This is a safety issue. Please use the car line to drop your child off in a safe location.
The Poe PTO provides police officers to direct traffic and keep everyone safe every morning. Please remain patient and take directions from the police officer(s) and crossing guard(s) as all have everyone's safety in mind.
Walk Up
You may walk your child up to the front of the school. If parking your car, please be mindful of no parking signs and our neighbors' driveways or alleyways. Blocking any driveway or alleyway is prohibited and your car could be towed or ticketed.
