The Fine Arts team is presenting a winter concert Friday, December 15th featuring the Poe Choir and Poe Ravenettes. There will also be an Art Exhibit. Come out and enjoy this visual treat in the Poe Cafeteria beginning 6:00 pm.

Poe Choir - Hello, I am Ms. Michelle Jackson, music teacher at Poe Elementary School. I am so excited that your student is interested in auditioning for the Poe Choir and look forward to working with them. Choir auditions are open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and will be held in the music room T-43 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 3-5 p.m. The audition will require students to sing the "Happy Birthday" song. I will be listening for a good, clean tone, the voice range, and their ability to sing in tune. Please send a light snack and water with your student and prepare for them to remain the entire time. Dismissal will be promptly at 5 p.m. from the gate on North Street via PIK my kid. Please be sure to change your students dismissal for that day to choir in the afterschool tab. Results will be announced on Friday, September 15th and rehearsals will begin on Thursday September 21st. Please fill out the Poe Choir Audition and Information Form before the audition.

The Raven Runners’ Club will begin meeting the week of September 18th. Students in K-2 will meet from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. on Mondays and 3-5 will meet on Wednesdays at the same time. We will meet rain or shine. We will focus on endurance, stamina, and goal-setting.

Students will meet in the cafeteria on the appointed day. Runners should have a water bottle and good running shoes. Uniforms are fine, but a change of clothes might be beneficial. Once finished, we will walk to the front to be dismissed promptly at 4:00 p.m. Students picked up after 4:10 could be asked to withdraw until the spring semester.

Our club is organized around the activity of running – but we will also focus on well-being and nutrition/hydration. We promote fitness and encourage sportsmanship and a positive attitude! We are ALL runners – no matter the speed or distance.

Poe Raven and Ravenette Dancers - I am so very excited to have your student’s interest in trying out for the Ravenettes Dance Team. There will be a lot of fun things taking place this school year for the team and I look forward to getting to meeting all our potential dancers during the tryouts on September 18 – 20. We will have two days of tryouts from 3:00- 5:00 to learn the combination and be placed into tryout groups. On the last day, the 20th we will hold the tryouts in the dance room from 3 – 5. All dancers must stay in the dance room for the tryouts, and I will bring them to the ODC gate for pick up at 5:00 sharp. On Friday of that week letters will go home with all candidates to inform them of the results. On the following Tuesday, September 26 we will hold our first team meeting of the dancers and directors where I will go over information with them and hand out their packets. I would encourage parents to attend this meeting if possible so any questions could be asked at that time. All signed documents will be due on our practice September 28.
