Two quick things as the year wraps up:

1. The end-of-year class party is June 2nd at 2 pm. If you are VIPS approved, you are welcome to join. I'm planning to buy snacks for the class. If you want to send in a treat, feel free. I'm not going to do a sign-up since it's so last-minute. I figure, the more, the merrier for the end of year chaos :) 

2.  I'm planning to get Ms. Becker a Target or Amazon gift card from the class. If you'd like to contribute, feel free to send me money via Venmo (@Allison-Leedie) or Zelle (713-898-8218).

Hi All!

Next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Let's shower Ms. Becker with lots of love as she wraps up her first year as a teacher. The PTO is planning lunches, breakfasts, and snacks to celebrate all of the Poe teachers in this year's Hollywood theme. I'll also be getting Ms. Becker flowers from the whole class. I've attached her favorite things list if you'd like to get something for her, too. 

See below for ways to help your child celebrate her, too:

Monday: Walk of Fame- chalk the front sidewalk with lots of messages of love

Tuesday: Fani mail- have your child write a note of appreciation! You can write one too :) 

Wednesday: Concession stand: Bring your teacher their favorite snack or drink

Thursday: Curtain Call: draw, craft, or bring a flower or other small gift to your teacher. Homemade gifts are great!

Friday: Red Carpet: Dress in your teacher's favorite color. Ms. Becker's is Pink! :) 

Also, please set up your child's reading page if you haven't already. We are currently 4th, with  16 out of 32 Pages created!

You can sign up for as many spots as you can attend. Our kiddos have ELA in the morning and math in the afternoon, but pick whatever subject/time works best for your schedule. 

While standardized tests are no one's favorite activity, they are the metric the State uses to evaluate our teachers, our school, and our students. Let's show TEA how awesome our Poe Ravens are. 

The ELA Assessment will be on April 15, and math will be on April 24th.

Hi everyone! 

There's been a few last-minute changes to the costume plan for the kiddos on Thursday. The school cannot get costumes for our kids in time for Thursday, so we need to provide our own costumes. Please read below and let me know if you have any questions or need help getting items.

Required:
Kids will wear a black shirt, black pants, and black or dark shoes. If the shirt has a logo on it, you can just have your child wear it inside out (that's what I'm planning to do). If you don't have black pants, they could wear white, silver, or gold bottoms. 

Optional: 

Feel free to add any silver, gold, or neon green accessories. The vibe is space/futuristic. For example, funky wigs, metallic pants, vests, skirts, headbands, gloves, etc. 

I'm not sure when or if the kids will be performing during the school day, so please send the costume in whenever you have it ready. Please send it in a bag labeled with your kid's name.

Hi All!

Below are more details about the field trip scheduled for next Wednesday. If you want to volunteer to chaperone the trip for Ms. Becker's class, please email Ms. Cheng (peiyin.cheng@houstonisd.org ) since Ms. Becker is out of town. You must be VIPS-approved. The 2 class chaperones will travel on the bus with the class.

Permission slips should go home today. 

Students should bring a sack lunch. There may be food trucks at Levy Park as well, if they want to bring money, but that's not guaranteed.

If you want to meet the class at Levy Park for lunch, you must be VIPS approved. 

Schedule: 

9 am- Leave Poe

9:45- Arrive at Little Beakers for science presentation/activity

11:15 Travel to Levy Park for lunch and games

1 pm- Travel back to Poe

I hope you all are having a great week!

I know this is a hectic season. To keep things simple, this year students will be doing individual holiday gifts/cards to celebrate Ms. Becker. I've attached her list of favorite things in case it is helpful. 

Ms. Becker and Mr. Cookie have been hard at work keeping our kiddos focused and entertained in the last weeks leading up to the break. If you can, it would be great for your child to bring her a little treat or card to thank her for everything she has done. If you wanted, you could have your kiddo write Ms. Cheng a card as well. 

Our class holiday party will be on December 20th! I'll send out a separate message with details and a sign-up sheet for treats and supplies.

We are excited to share details about our upcoming joint Halloween party for Ms. Cheng and Ms. Becker's class! Here's what we have planned:
