The Poe Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) helps support our school through volunteering and also helps provide additional funds to continue programs, sponsor events, and purchase items by supplementing the funding from TEA and HISD. As part of the Poe community, EVERYONE - including parents, teachers and administrators - is automatically a member of the Poe PTO, and we welcome you to be part of the effort to provide Poe students with a strong foundation for learning and success.
The Poe PTO provides volunteers and financial support for educational programs, field trips, career week, technology upgrades, campus improvement projects and preservation of our historic building.
The Poe PTO has a broad range of activities in which parents, guardians, teachers, and administrators can be involved. This includes room parents, teacher appreciation, fundraising, career week, international festival, book fair and so much more!
Support Us When You Volunteer
Check out our volunteer opportunities page to see what volunteer needs the PTO has as well as HISD requirements for volunteers. Let us know what your volunteer interests are by filling out our Volunteer Interests Form.
Get VIPS Approved + Volunteer
All volunteers must register online and undergo the annual background check prior to volunteering in the school. Volunteers can work in any HISD school for the school year once cleared by the background check.
Volunteer Opportunities & Descriptions
Poe Elementary welcomes and encourages all parents to participate in school activities. Our PTO volunteers make it possible for the school to conduct programs that enhance its students' and teachers' educational environment. Please review the descriptions of volunteer opportunities and choose your areas of interest in the Volunteer Interest Form.

One of the ways the PTO supports our school is by facilitating communication between parents, teachers, and administrators. Our website uses Membership Toolkit to help us accomplish this goal. With your Membership Toolkit account, you will have access to the school directory, email communications, online store, and more.
You are invited to join us for monthly meetings (check the school calendar for dates) and be part of the effort to provide Poe students with a strong foundation for learning and success.
Attend a PTO Meeting
When: On Tuesdays once per month at 8:00 a.m. in the Poe Elementary Cafeteria
Attendees: All parents, teachers, and administrators are automatically members of the PTO with voting rights. We welcome you to the PTO and encourage you to attend PTO meetings and be part of the effort.
